This Heat-Pelicans trade is centered around JJ Redick to Miami

This trade features two NBA teams in very different positions going forward. The Miami Heat are looking to compete in the postseason while the New Orleans Pelicans are rebuilding around their stars for the future. They both have intriguing trade pieces that would help the other side in a deal such as this one.

Miami’s playoff hopes are off to a shaky start this season with a 6-10 record. Jimmy Butler has only played six games this season which has caused some inconsistencies within the team. Bam Adebayo currently leads the team with 20.7 points, nine rebounds, and 5.4 assists per contest. Tyler Herro has stepped up in 10 games this season averaging 17.6 points a night.

As a team, the Heat are shooting 34.9% from three-point range. This is an area where the team could look to improve at the NBA trade deadline. The Pelicans are a team that would be able to help. New Orleans is attempting to get younger and have been linked to many teams in trades recently. They began by sending Jrue Holiday to the Milwaukee Bucks in the offseason.

Over the last week, Lonzo Ball has been thrown into rumors. A player that could help the Heat is JJ Redick. He is averaging 8.1 points per game coming off the bench for the Pelicans this season. Redick is in the final year of his contract with the Pelicans which makes him a candidate to be traded.

As we creep closer to the deadline, we will begin to see many players being thrown around in different deals. Here is what it would take to get Redick in Miami this season.
