After hiring Stan Van Gundy to be the next head coach of the franchise and after getting key offseason acquisitions in Steven Adams and Eric Bledsoe, many believed the New Orleans Pelicans would be a team that gets off to a fast start, but it has been quite the opposite for this team. Now, they could look to make a change ahead of the NBA trade deadline.
Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson have been spectacular so far this year for the Pelicans, as both guys are averaging 20+ points per game and have All-Star pedigree. Outside of these two though, the rest of the roster has been quite disappointing, especially the backcourt.
Eric Bledsoe, Lonzo Ball and J.J. Redick have not been as solid of contributors as the Pelicans had hoped early on in the season, but Lonzo has still been productive. He is averaging 11.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists and is shooting about 38.2% from the floor in 13 games.
Just the other day, reports surfaced about the Pelicans fielding interest on numerous players on their roster, including Lonzo Ball. With him being in the final year of his contract and the New Orleans’ backcourt getting younger and deeper, Lonzo is a player who could absolutely be on the move near the trade deadline.
His all-around versatility makes him a very valuable player and his “do-it-all” type of approach to the game makes him an intriguing point guard for any contending team in the NBA. With that being said, let’s take a look at three perfect trade destinations for Lonzo Ball.
