Myles Turner

Throughout his young career, Myles Turner is a guy that is oftentimes overlooked for no reason. He is such a great defensive player and has proven himself to be one of the top shot-blockers in the entire NBA.

Turner is a shot-blocker at one end, and both a low-post and perimeter-threat on the other end of the court, which is why it is surprising to see the Pacers not utilize him more often. With guys like Sabonis, Brogdon and Warren trumping him in terms of production on the Pacers roster, it seems very realistic that Indiana would be willing to trade him for the right price.

This offseason, the Hornets made a lot of positive moves as they drafted one of the best prospects in the 2020 NBA Draft in LaMelo Ball #3 overall, but they signed Gordon Hayward to a four-year, $120M contract. Terry Rozier, Miles Bridges and P.J. Washington are all young, talented players who need a leader and bringing in Myles Turner can really go a long way for this young group.

Turner himself is just only 24-years old, but was a leader at the University of Texas and has been the defensive leader of the Indiana Pacers. Both Hayward and Turner can be the two leaders of this new Hornets franchise and be the X-factors for them to finally break through and make it back to the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.

Over the course of his career with the Pacers, Myles Turner has averaged 12.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.1 blocks, and has shot 48.8% from the floor and 35.2% from three-point range. His 707 blocks in his first 5 seasons make him one of the top shot-blockers in the NBA and make him a player who can have an immediate impact in Charlotte.

If you add Myles Turner to this Charlotte Hornets roster, their starting lineup looks something like this: Terry Rozier, Devonte’ Graham, Gordon Hayward, P.J. Washington and Myles Turner with Miles Bridges, LaMelo Ball, Malik Monk and the Martin twins coming off the bench. That is absolutely a playoff team in the Eastern Conference and a team that could wind up doing some damage to teams that overlook them.

Although they are a little undersized, bringing in Myles Turner bolsters their front-court and helps them defensively. It would be a great move for Charlotte to bring in Myles Turner and would finally give Hornets fans something to cheer about for the first time since changing their name from the Charlotte Bobcats.
