Evan Fournier
One of the most underrated wing players in the entire NBA is Evan Fournier. Now in his 9th season in the NBA, the 28-year old French wing has consistently been the best player on the Orlando Magic next to Nikola Vucevic and has been one of the sole reasons they have been in the playoffs recently.
Over the course of his career, Evan Fournier has averaged 14.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and has shot 45% from the floor, 37.5% from three-point range. However, the last five seasons, Fournier has eclipsed his career average for points per game and is averaging upwards of 17.7 points per game this season!
Evan Fournier is a terrific three-point shooter and given Denver’s perimeter-oriented attack, the veteran wing could join this organization and immediately become their third best player next to Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic. Michael Porter Jr. shows a lot of promise moving forward, but this early in his career, especially after missing a month this season, there are questions about if he can step up into a bigger role immediately this year.
Acquiring Evan Fournier allows Porter Jr. to progress at his own pace and potentially even be a spark off-the-bench like he was last year. Losing Jerami Grant definitely hurt this team and left them with a void to fill, but adding Fournier can repair this roster and give them another high-level player they need to be a legit title contender.
The Nuggets currently have eight players averaging double-figure scoring and adding a ninth double-digit scorer could make this team virtually unstoppable on the offensive-end of the court. Jokic is going to continue being an MVP candidate all season long, Jamal Murray is going to continue to grow into a NBA superstar and the role players for Denver are going to continue contributing at a high-level.
The only question is if they can do so against the best teams in the league come playoff time. With Evan Fournier on the wing, there is no doubt that this team can make it back to the Western Conference Finals.
