Why This Trade Would Benefit The New York Knicks

It feels like the New York Knicks have not had a solid point guard since the days of Walt “Clyde” Frazier back in the day. This is something that has eluded the franchise and is one of the main reasons that they have turned into a laughingstock. At the moment, The Knicks seem to have a core to build around but still need a point guard.

RJ Barrett is beginning to find his way over the last five games of the season. He is still struggling from the three-point line but that is something that can improve as he matures in the league. Mitchell Robinson is another player who is beginning to get his legs under him on both ends of the floor.

The Knicks finally hired the right coach in Tom Thibodeau and this is showing on the defensive end. They currently ranked first in the league in points allowed per contest. If the Knicks were to get a point guard, there’s nothing holding them back from competing for a seven or eight seed in a top-heavy Eastern Conference.

This all comes down to what they want to do with Randle. He is in the second of a three-year deal he signed last offseason. He is still young enough if the next want to re-sign him but if they don’t, he is a huge trade piece for the franchise.
