This Kings-Thunder trade forms a Buddy Hield, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander backcourt

Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Sacramento Kings

The best thing the Sacramento Kings can do as an organization right now is continue looking for ways to add talent at every position on the court. This trade does exactly that for them and perhaps the best part of the trade is getting a future first-round pick.

Since they have both De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Halibruton in the backcourt, adding depth on the wing and in the frontcourt could really help Sacramento and possibly make them a playoff team this season.

Marvin Bagley III and Richaun Holmes are the only two guys who have made an impact for Sacramento in the frontcourt this season, but Mike Muscala could really be a difference maker for them. The Kings currently rank 12th in three-point shooting percentage and while Hield definitely aids them in this category, Muscala could definitely help them as well.

Over the course of his career, Muscala has shot 36.8% from three-point range and is very effective in pick-and-roll situations, as he normally steps back and is wide open for three-point attempts. With Fox and Haliburton both being reliable ball-handlers in pick-and-roll situations, Muscala could thrive in Sacramento.

Trevor Ariza could also make a difference for the Kings on the wing. Behind Harrison Barnes, the Kings have virtually no depth, which is why Ariza could be an x-factor for this team off-the-bench. His two-way play and experiences in this league are what makes him a valuable asset.

The drama between Buddy Hield and the Kings could resurface at any point, which is why it is better to part with him now before he causes a major problem. With the emergence of rookie Tyrese Haliburton, there is not an immediate need for Buddy Hield anymore, which is why he is dispensable.

Trading him now while his value is high and getting not only key role players, but a valuable first-round draft pick in 2022 could be extremely important for Sacramento now and moving forward as they look to end their 14-year playoff drought.
