3 intriguing trade scenarios for Cavaliers star Andre Drummond

Andre Drummond is a player who a lot of teams seem to have given up on but is still a heck of a big man. Last season, the Cleveland Cavaliers traded Brandon Knight, John Henson, and a 2023 second-round pick to the Detroit Pistons to acquire the former two-time NBA All-Star center, but with the youth movement in Cleveland, Drummond may not be in the future plans of the organization.

This offseason, Drummond opted into his $28.75M player option for the 2020-21 NBA season as he is now set to become an unrestricted free agent next summer. Andre Drummond’s contract this season takes up over 25% of a team’s total salary cap and if any team was to acquire him, they would likely move into the tax threshold for the 2020-21 season and have to pay more luxury taxes.

After just acquiring Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince in the multi-team deal that sent James Harden to Brooklyn, the Cleveland Cavaliers now have an abundance of players in their frontcourt, making both Andre Drummond and Kevin Love two prime trade targets for other teams.

Over the course of his career, Andre Drummond has averaged 13.8 rebounds/game and since 2015, has led the league in rebounds per game in four different seasons. Drummond is a low-post and more traditional big man who does not have an outside game, but he can still contribute to any team he is on and make a difference defensively.

There are plenty of teams around the NBA who could utilize Drummond’s talent as a pure center, making him one of the hotter names on the NBA trade market right now. Could the Cavaliers look to move Andre Drummond near this season’s NBA trade deadline?

Let’s take a look at three perfect trades for Cleveland Cavaliers’ big man, Andre Drummond, ahead of the NBA trade deadline.
