Why This Trade Would Benefit The New York Knicks
This is a trade that New York Knicks’ fans might not like, but they are a group that is difficult to please. This is all contingent on Julius Randle sticking around long-term. New York cannot afford to lose both Randle and Robinson for the future.
If Randle signs a deal, this trade is easier to justify. Barrett and Randle are off to a good start to the NBA season along with Alec Burks and rookie Immanuel Quickley. Tom Thibodeau has the Knicks playing well on both sides of the ball, which is something we have not seen since the early 2010s.
Daniel Theis is a player who would be able to come and contribute right away, whether off the bench or in a starting role. When healthy, Langford has a chance to turn into a productive player in New York.
The Knicks are not close to building a winner, but the new coaching regime and front office has given the city some hope. Now, it is up to them to put the right team on the floor to contend sooner than later.
