The New York Knicks are off to a surprising start this NBA season and Julius Randle is a big reason why. Playing in the second of three years on his deal, Randle could be sent away during this hot start. The Los Angeles Clippers could be a trade partner for the big man.
Randle is averaging 22.1 points and 11.4 rebounds per game this NBA season, both are leading the Knicks. Along with RJ Barrett, Randle has the Knicks playing some good ball under first-year coach Tom Thibodeau.
As good as he has been, Randle is not part of the future. He is a nice piece at the moment but it is important to add some pieces that will be around moving forward. Unless the Knicks decide to extend Randle, he could be on the move in a deal.
The Clippers should be one of the NBA teams on the phone if this happens. Los Angeles lost Montrezl Harrell in free agency to their crosstown rival. This left them weak downlow and Randle could take over a much-needed spot. Randle could team up with Serge Ibaka in the frontcourt and solidify the position. This is something that would help the Clippers moving forward and come postseason time.
The New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers are two NBA teams headed in different directions. This is a chance to make a deal that helps both sides. Let’s see what it might take to get this done.
