3 trades for Kyle Lowry the Toronto Raptors should consider

Kyle Lowry joined the Toronto Raptors in 2012 and has been one of the faces of the franchise and one of the main contributors to their success over the years. Every single season since the 2014-15 season, Lowry has been named an NBA All-Star and he was instrumental in the Raptors’ journey to capturing their first championship in franchise history.

He was a big part of the changing culture in Toronto and has been a direct contributor to their winning ways over the years. While he is 34 years old now, he is still playing at a high level and barring no major injuries or setbacks, he could be set up for success for four or five more years. Lowry is a proven leader and while the Raptors have loved what he has done for them over the years, they do need to take into account that he is an aging veteran whose value is as high as it will ever be.

The Raptors have one of the better backcourts in the entire league with Lowry and Fred VanVleet, an undrafted player who recently cashed in this offseason with Toronto. VanVleet became the highest paid undrafted player in NBA history this offseason when he signed a four-year, $85M deal to remain with the Raptors.

VanVleet is the future point guard of this organization and seems to be ready to take over sooner than later. The Raptors do play both Lowry and VanVleet together in the starting lineup, but they could be better off trading Lowry now and bringing in another big time, younger talent to pair with Fred VanVleet in the backcourt.

Not only can they continue their recent success, but they could set themselves up to continue being one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference for years to come. The Raptors have to do what is best for them and their future success in this league, which is why Kyle Lowry is a name to watch throughout the season as a possible All-Star to be traded.

If Toronto decides to trade Kyle Lowry this year, here are three trades they should consider involving the six-time NBA All-Star guard.
