Why the Trade Benefits the Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers have given the Simmons-Embiid experiment plenty of time to come together. It has not worked. Despite their comments about not wanting to trade either, if they get a massive return for one of them, it is necessary. Joel Embiid would be the player moved here.
The Sixers would get James Wiseman back to replace him down low. He is not the shooter that Embiid is just yet but that is a part of his game that could improve. Meanwhile, Andrew Wiggins would be able to provide a scoring impact on the wing for Philadelphia.
An intriguing part of this deal would be three first-round picks. Philadelphia knows a lot about utilizing draft picks and could continue if they were to make this trade. The Warriors seem to be falling apart and those NBA Draft selections could end up being helpful.
This would keep the 76ers near the top of the Eastern Conference. They are looking to take the next step come postseason time and this trade might be able to get them there eventually.
