4 teams who could pursue a blockbuster trade for Karl-Anthony Towns

For years now, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been trying to stockpile young talent, headlined by their No. 1 overall pick back in 2015, Karl-Anthony Towns. Since entering the NBA, Towns has been one of the most dominant big men in the NBA and at just 25-years old, has not even entered the prime of his career yet.

Entering his sixth season with the Timberwolves, KAT has made two All-Star appearances and made the All-NBA team for the 2017-18 season and was extremely durable up until the back-half of last season when he suffered a wrist injury. After playing in just 35 games last year, Towns entered this season fully healthy until suffering a hard fall against the Utah Jazz inMinnesota’s second game of the season and injuring his wrist again.

The severity of the injury was unknown at the time and it looked really bad when it happened, but the Timberwolves announced a few days later that Karl-Anthony Towns had not broken his wrist but suffered a wrist dislocation and that there is no timetable for his return.

Entering the year, the Timberwolves had high hopes as they had brought in D’Angelo Russell last year to pair with Towns and also drafted Anthony Edwards first overall this offseason. With these three guys leading the charge, the Timberwolves looked to have a team that could potentially make some noise in the West, but now with KAT out, this team is going to struggle once again.

Since being drafted by Minnesota, the Timberwolves have gone 162-230 (41.3% win percentage) in 5 seasons with Karl-Anthony Towns and have made the playoffs just once in that time frame. If Minnesota continues to struggle and cannot prove they can win, Towns may want out of his current situation.

Towns hitting the trade market would definitely shake up the NBA and here are four teams who would make a push and pursue the 25-year old big man should his status with the Minnesota Timberwolves be unclear.
