Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks have been a team for years now that has consistently been a top defensive team in the NBA. Rick Carlisle and his entire staff always are finding ways to limit their opponents and this year should be no different.
Last season, the Mavericks struggled a bit on the defensive end of the court, but they also were without Dwight Powell at center and were also without Kristaps Porzingis for some time, as he only played in 57 regular-season games.
This year, the Mavericks should be a lot better defensively when Porzingis returns from his knee injury, and with the addition of Draymond Green, Dallas could be one of the better defensive teams in the Western Conference. Given his versatility and size, Porzingis could easily play center for the Mavs in a move that would bring in Draymond to be the team’s starting power forward.
Green is a fantastic defender in his own right, but he can also help Doncic given his passing abilities. With Golden State, he has been one of their main passers and facilitators for years now, which is exactly what he could do for the Mavericks.
On both ends of the court, Draymond can make an impact for the Mavericks, which is why they should pursue him if he becomes available. Given his contract, it would likely cost the Mavs a guy like James Johnson, a young player and a first-round pick, but it would be well worth it as Green could help solidify the Mavericks as a championship contender this season.
