Why the Trade Benefits the New Orleans Pelicans

Like the New York Knicks, the New Orleans Pelicans are a team that has some work to do before thinking about the NBA postseason. The difference between the two sides is that the Pelicans have legitimate stars on the roster. Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson create a duo that makes the Pelicans entertaining to watch if nothing else.

Bledsoe has played two games for New Orleans early on and is scoring 11.5 points per game while adding six assists. At 31-years old, Bledsoe does not fit into the plan for the Pelicans. This is also why players like JJ Redick have been featured in trade talks. New Orleans is interested in getting younger and building the roster around Ingram and Williamson.

The Knicks would be able to send over some NBA Draft capital along with Randle, who would be a short-term commitment. For that short amount of time, the Pelicans would solidify their frontcourt with Randle and Steven Adams.

While Randle might not seem like a long-term answer in New Orleans, he would come with some NBA Draft picks and some offensive talent to help out right away. This would all be for a veteran point guard, which is something that the Pelicans have already showed they are not shy about trading away.
