Why the Trade Would Benefit the Indiana Pacers
Sometimes a player and team just drift apart. That is what has happened with Victor Oladipo and the Indiana Pacers. He has played out a long-term contract in town and is unlikely to get another. It is important for the Pacers to trade Oladipo before he leaves in NBA free agency.
It is always better to get something for a player than nothing. That is the situation the Pacers find themselves in. As far as the return, Indiana would get a strong guard and Dennis Schroder to pair in the backcourt with Malcolm Brogdon.
The Pacers are set up well with Malcolm Brogdon and Domantas Sabonis balancing out the offense. A player like Alex Caruso would be able to come off the bench and provide valuable minutes when needed. Also, the idea of a first-round pick is something that has to be on the table for a player like Oladipo.
Indiana is a team that will content for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with or without Oladipo. This is all about getting a return before he is able to leave in free agency for nothing.
