The best trade the Heat could offer the Cavs for Kevin Love

Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Cleveland Cavaliers

Since 2010, the Cleveland Cavaliers have never made the playoffs without LeBron James being on their roster. Since LeBron entered the league in 2003, the Cavaliers have a combined 135-324 (29.4% win percentage) record in 6 seasons he was not with Cleveland.

Things are not going to magically change overnight for the Cavs and King James is not walking through the doors to the Cavaliers practice facility any time soon and likely never again. As a result, they will not be making the playoffs this year and likely for the next few seasons as they continue to gather and develop young talent.

Kevin Love is now 32-years old and they are paying him over $30M a year to help them win 19 games. Maybe I am crazy but it makes zero sense for the Cavaliers to hold onto him and pay him this kind of money when they are in no position to win.

Not only would they be getting two future first-round picks in this trade with the Miami Heat, but they would be receiving two veterans who could have a reasonable price on the trade market. Both Andre Iguodala and Kelly Olynyk are two guys who can contribute immediately to a playoff contending team and as a result, could be flipped for more futur draft assets.

The only thing the Cleveland Cavaliers have going for them right now is the ability to constantly draft players every year, in hopes that they will pan out and bring them back to the playoffs one day.

That one day is not going to be this year, next year, or the following year, so the best thing this organization can do is to steal the Oklahoma City Thunder’s idea and acquire as many draft picks as they possibly can. Only through the draft they will be able to build this team into a contender again because no free agent will want to go to Cleveland in general unless they can prove they are legit.

The NBA Draft is the only way the Cleveland Cavaliers can improve their roster and as a result, this is why they need to trade Kevin Love at some point this season.
