This Knicks-Pelicans trade gives Lonzo Ball a needed fresh start

Sometimes a deal involving two rebuilding NBA teams can turn out to be one of the most intriguing ones around. This is the case if the New York Knicks acquire one backcourt member in Lonzo Ball from the New Orleans Pelicans. The story would write itself.

There were few louder voices around the sports’ world than LaVar Ball when his son, Lonzo, was coming out of UCLA and into the NBA. Ball wanted to play for a big market city and landed in Los Angeles. The marriage did not last as he was sent to New Orleans in the Anthony Davis trade. This is a chance for Ball to return to a big city and get a fresh start.

Like Ball, many players on the Knicks could use a fresh start. Both Frank Ntilikina and Kevin Knox have not been able to avoid the word ‘bust’ being labeled to them. In this trade, the Knicks would be able to send one away while improving at one of the most important positions on the floor.

The Knicks are in need of a point guard and Ball is a better option than what they are working with now. Dennis Smith Jr. still completely lacks feel for the game of basketball and Frank Ntilikina hasn’t done much better either.

This would be a noteworthy deal if it were to get done. Here is what a potential deal between the Knicks and Pelicans could look like.
