Did the Boston Celtics re-tool enough to win a championship in 2020-21?

There is no denying the fact that Brad Stevens is one of the greatest coaches in the NBA and the job he has done with the Boston Celtics of the years is remarkable. Stevens joined the Celtics organization ahead of the 2013-14 NBA season after spending six years as the head coach of the Butler Bulldogs.

At Butler, Stevens took the Bulldogs to back-to-back National Championships, ultimately losing to UCONN in 2011 and Duke in 2012. In the NBA, Stevens’ success has been very similar to that of his collegiate coaching career.

Stevens has taken the Boston Celtics to three of the last four Eastern Conference Finals but has yet to make it over the hump and get to the NBA Finals. Could this year be the year the Boston Celtics finally make it back to the NBA Finals and compete for a chance to win their franchise’s 18th NBA Championship?

This may be the Celtics’ best chance to make the NBA Finals yet and if they do not, we may see this roster flipped upside down next year. The Celtics addressed some major needs this offseason and with Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum playing at the highest levels of their career, the Celtics are without a doubt one of the best teams in the NBA.

The three things the Celtics needed to do this offseason was move Gordon Hayward’s $30M+ contract, improve their bench, and acquire a legit big man who can be a rebounding threat in the paint. Boston addressed all three of these needs this offseason and will contend for the top seed in the Eastern Conference this upcoming year.

So how did this offseason play a role in the Celtics future success and chances to win the 2021 NBA Finals?
