Why the Trade Benefits the New York Knicks

It has been a real struggle for the New York Knicks to find a long-term answer at the point guard position. Frank Ntilikina hasn’t quite found a meaningful way to contribute offensively while Dennis Smith Jr. continues to lack legitimate feel for the game within the half-court.

Making a move for an established guard like Spencer Dinwiddie from the Brooklyn Nets would be an intriguing option for the Knicks to pursue. It would take the guess work out of trying to build the roster into a winner.

It has become quite clear when Dinwiddie takes over the Nets’ offense during situations when other key players are out that he can handle a heavy playmaking load. For a team in desperate need of that ability, he would thrive with New York.

If the Knicks do not end up finding a primary ball handler who will be able to put the ball in the bucket and create shots for teammates, it’s going to continue to be a struggle. Dinwiddie may not be an All-Star but he can make things much easier on RJ Barrett, Kevin Knox II, and Mitchell Robinson.
