Why the Trade Benefits the San Antonio Spurs

If DeMar DeRozan is truly unhappy in San Antonio, it would benefit the Spurs to get rid of him right off the bat. They did not qualify for the postseason for the first time in over two decades which means they could choose to head in a different direction. This means getting rid of some veterans players like DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge.

San Antonio has Dejounte Murray at the top of their offense to build around. San Antonio would be able to build around him with players like Randle and Ntilikina. The French point guard is one who could use a change of scenery and who better to learn under than Gregg Popovich?

Randle is a proven big man coming off the best season of his career on the offensive end. He could help be a more long-term answer for when LaMarcus Aldridge ends up being moved to further the rebuild.

The Spurs have a plan for the future and DeRozan is not apart of it. If they are able to trade DeRozan away for any return, especially one including draft capital and rotation-ready players, it would be a win for San Antonio.
