How the Trade Benefits the Chicago Bulls

It has been a while since the Chicago Bulls have been relevant. Making a play for a superstar like James Harden would immediately put them back on the map in ways they haven’t experienced since Derrick Rose’s prime.

The Bulls will face an uphill battle when it comes to emerging as a clear-cut playoff contender until they have a real franchise player. Harden may not have Chicago on his preferred destinations list, but making his way to the Eastern Conference would help.

Aside from Zach LaVine, none of the recently drafted prospects the Bulls have added into their core have managed to take the next step. However, LaVine has real limitations to his skill-set that will prevent him from stacking up with perennial All-Star guards.

By also adding Eric Gordon and Ben McLemore in this trade, the Bulls would have some intriguing options on the perimeter that Harden is already familiar with. Chicago would still have Patrick Williams, Lauri Markkanen, and Wendell Carter Jr. in the supporting cast, too.
