Clippers Have Gone “All-In” For A Championship
With the Los Angeles Clippers having virtually no draft picks for the next several years and not having much youth on the roster, they have gone “all-in” on Kawhi Leonard and Paul George to win them a championship. With their current roster, especially after losing Montrezl Harrell, they will not be able to make it out of the Western Conference Semifinals once again.
They are not a very athletic team and they will not be as great defensively this year as they were last year, which makes it even more important for them to invest in more offensive production. Going out and trading for Derrick Rose may not help them much defensively, but he will make a big difference on the offensive end of the court.
Derrick Rose has been great in pick-and-roll situations over the course of his career and with two big guys who are great in the pick-and-roll in Ivica Zubac and Serge Ibaka, the Clippers can expand their offense, making it harder to guard and opening up space on the floor for playmakers.
Not to mention, Derrick Rose would be overlooked a lot in the Clippers’ offense next to Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. All of the focus for opponents is always on the Clippers two stars, which would allow Derrick Rose to take a lot of pressure off of both of them, as well as improve other role players on the roster, such as Marcus Morris and Luke Kennard.
The Los Angeles Clippers have a small championship window in a crowded Western Conference because of their financial restraints and lack of draft capital, but trading for Derrick Rose gives them a legit chance to win a title this upcoming season.
