After trading away Robert Covington earlier in the offseason and now Russell Westbrook, it is not a secret that the Houston Rockets are willing to listen to offers for everyone on their roster. While it seems highly unlikely that they will trade James Harden, as they will want to see John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins in action next to him, the Rockets will definitely listen to what teams have to offer for the former NBA MVP.
James Harden is coming off a season in which he won his third straight scoring title, averaging 34.3 points while shooting 44.4% from the floor and 35.5% from three-point range. He has consistently proven to be one of the NBA’s all-time greatest scorers, but in his 11-years, has yet to win an NBA championship.
The Houston Rockets’ championship window has shrunk even more with Westbrook being traded to Washington, which could cause concern for James Harden and his future with the team.
As mentioned before, sources around the league believe Harden will give the Rockets one last shot this upcoming season, but could be traded at the trade deadline if everything falls apart early on for Houston. If James Harden was to hit the trade market, very few team’s front offices would not pick up the phone and see what they could do to acquire the eight-time NBA All-Star.
Not only can James Harden be the type of player an organization brings in to win a championship, but he can help any team in the league contend for numerous championships. While he is a high-volume shooter, averaging close to 22 shots per game last year, if Harden is to join a championship contender via trade, he would have to be willing to take a step back.
Any team that trades for him will not give him the ultimate green-light the Rockets give him in taking every shot, but he will still be an All-Star and one of the main focal points for any team on the offensive end of the court.
With the recent Russell Westbrook trade, these five teams should now make an “all-out” push in attempts to acquire James Harden from the Houston Rockets via trade.
