4 teams who should monitor Myles Turner’s future in Indiana

The Indiana Pacers have had some great rosters over the years, but have underperformed as of late. They have made the playoffs for five straight seasons, but have lost in the first round each time. As a result of not making any progress, head coach Nate McMillan was fired and the Pacers may be trending in a new direction as a franchise. Could a Myles Turner trade be a potential option for teams to monitor?

T.J. Warren and Domantas Sabonis look to be the two main offensive weapons for the Pacers with Malcolm Brogdon, Victor Oladipo, and Myles Turner as the secondary scorers for the Pacers, but there are a lot of questions about this roster.

One question revolves around the health of their players. Brogdon, Oladipo and Sabonis all missed time last year due to injuries and Oladipo has the most question marks surrounding him. Over the course of the last two seasons, the former Indiana Hoosier has only played in 55 games due to injury and may not be the player he once was.

In the small sample size of those 55 games, Oladipo’s scoring numbers and shooting numbers have declined, which could be a cause for concern for the Pacers moving forward. He has always been a big part of the Pacers plans for the future and if he cannot be the player he once was this upcoming year, the Pacers may have to look elsewhere for production.

Myles Turner has been a great defensive player in the NBA, leading the league in blocks per game during the 2018-19 season, but has not been utilized on offense as of late. His scoring numbers were down last year and his offensive efficiency has been declining. Not only can Turner be utilized in the low-post, but is a terrific three-point shooter as a center, as he has averaged 35.7% from deep over the course of his career.

With Turner’s role diminishing in the Pacers’ offense and frustrations of his name coming up in trade talks during the offseason, Myles Turner could be the next big name player in the NBA to request a trade and these are the four teams who should monitor Myles Turner storylines in Indiana.
