Why the Trade Benefits the Washington Wizards
The Washington Wizards are also in a rebuilding phase but unlike the New York Knicks, they have a superstar on their roster to build around. Bradley Beal is a player who should be around long-term with Davis Bertans. This allows them to trade Wall, who has struggled with injuries and has lost a step.
Ntilikina and Smith are not starting caliber point guards in the NBA. In Washington, they will add depth to the roster which has been an issue over the years. The main return in this deal is Randle. He will join a frontcourt in need of help on both ends of the floor.
Randle is an offensive-minded big man who will complement the three-point shooting ability of Bertans well. This is not a move that will turn Washington into contenders but it will allow them to part ways with Wall, which is a win in itself.
Wall is not part of the rebuilding process and Washington. His time has come and gone. It is likely that he is dealt this offseason and no matter where they sent him, the Wizards are making the right decision.
