Rockets, Magic discussed Russell Westbrook for Aaron Gordon trade

Russell Westbrook has been talked about in a lot of trade rumors and reportedly would like to be traded by the Houston Rockets. Another name that has been mentioned in trade rumors has been Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon. It appears the two names have been mentioned in the same trade talks.

According to a report from Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports, the Rockets and Magic discussed a trade that would have swapped Westbrook and Gordon. The report does, however, state that the talks did not progress far.

While the talks have not progressed at this point, that doesn’t mean that they won’t pick back up. There is still a chance these two teams could revisit these talks.

First and foremost, the Rockets need to figure out what they are going to do with James Harden. If they think they can work things out with Harden, it would make much more sense to acquire Gordon. He would be an excellent front-court running mate for Harden.

As for the Magic, they are in need of finding a true franchise player. They are also looking for a true star point guard. Westbrook could help them check off both of those boxes.

Aaron Gordon and Russell Westbrook and going to continue to be talked about in trade rumors. Both players would still be better served elsewhere. The Rockets and Magic will likely continue taking calls and talking about trades for those players.

It will be interesting to see what the rest of the offseason holds for the Rockets and Magic. They could both stand to make some moves. Only time will tell if these trade talks will pick back up, but it is certainly an intriguing idea.

With NBA free agency set to get underway later this afternoon, keep an eye on these two teams and players.
