Rajon Rondo signing with Hawks has ‘gained a lot of steam’

The Los Angeles Lakers will not be bringing back Rajon Rondo after the Dennis Schroder trade— paving the way for no shortage of potential suitors in NBA free agency to sign the veteran point guard.

According to Hoops Legion Ross, the possibility of Rondo signing with the Hawks has ‘gained a ton of steam’ since the morning.

There is still a need for the Hawks to add more depth in their backcourt, particularly in the floor general department. Atlanta could benefit from someone running the show when Trae Young is not on the court to help the young players get in positions to succeed.

The Hawks have made an effort to add veteran talent recently— the main example being the trade for Clint Capela from the Houston Rockets. Signing a veteran like Rondo would only help further their progress as a team.

During the 2019-20 season, Rondo appeared in 48 regular-season games for the Los Angeles Lakers. He averaged 20.5 minutes, 7.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists. Where he made his greatest impact was in the NBA playoffs.

Due to Rajon Rondo’s track record of winning NBA championships and revamped image, there will be no shortage of interested suitors. The Atlanta Hawks appear to be one of those teams when considering they’re trying to turn things around to move up the Eastern Conference.
