Why the Trade Benefits the Boston Celtics

The key to this deal is Lauri Markannen. The Boston Celtics were dominated in the paint by Bam Adebayo and the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals. They need to get more size and Markannen fits the bill.

Markannen is a stretch four with great size and ability to shoot from beyond the arc. He has turned into one of the premiere bigs when he is healthy. Markannen would improve the Celtics on both ends of the floor. He gives them a rebounding threat and a pick-and-roll threat on the perimeter.

Outside of Markannen, the Celtics would be getting role players in Otto Porter Jr. and Tomas Satoransky. On a team that will compete for a championship, this will go a long way.

The Celtics have many options this offseason if they want to make a deal. Kemba Walker is the biggest name on the trading block and they could receive nice compensation for his services.
