T-Wolves make Malik Beasley available for trade, Knicks interested

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been fairly active so far this offseason, especially making a draft night trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder to acquire Ricky Rubio. Now, it appears that they are shopping Malik Beasley in trade talks. One team with interest is the New York Knicks.

That news comes from a report put out by Vince Goodwill of Yahoo! Sports.

Beasley will be a very intriguing trade target for quite a few teams around the league. He is only 23 years old and is just now starting to develop into his prime. A team like the Knicks could absolutely use a player like him.

Last season after being acquired by the Timberwolves from the Denver Nuggets, Beasley played in and started 14 games. He averaged 20.7 points per game to go along with 5.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists. Beasley shot 47.2 percent from the floor and 42.6 percent from three-point range.

Quite a few teams around the league could use a three-point shooter like Beasley was last season. He will have to prove those numbers over a course of time, but there is no question that he holds some trade value right now.

No other teams were listed as potential landing spots for the Timberwolves’ guard in the report.

It will be interesting to see what happens with this situation. Malik Beasley may not be a household name, but he can make a very positive impact for whoever acquires him. A team like the Knicks who need a lot more talent on their roster would make a ton of sense.
