Jae Crowder to command interest from these four teams in free agency

The Miami Heat pulled off an impressive run in the NBA bubble— leading to an NBA Finals appearance. A critical element along the way was the hot perimeter shooting impact of Jae Crowder, who is set to be a free agent and he will command interest from plenty of teams.

According to Hoops Legion Ross, Crowder is expected to draw interest from the Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, and San Antonio Spurs when NBA free agency opens.

The most likely outcome is that Crowder returns to the Miami Heat and continues to fill a key role. However, there’s always a chance of a team around the NBA providing a sign-and-trade opportunity offering an enticing contract opportunity.

The Dallas Mavericks need all the ‘3-and-D’ wings they can get with Luka Doncic running the half-court offense in a true 4-out high pick-and-roll oriented attack. Crowder would be able to maximize floor spacing, but most importantly, help their underwhelming defense.

After trading away Robert Covington, it would make plenty of sense for the Houston Rockets to pursue Crowder— assuming the team will start the upcoming NBA season with Russell Westbrook and James Harden. If it’s time for a rebuild, then looking elsewhere would be a better option for both parties.

It has been a struggle for the Spurs to find ‘3-and-D’ wings since the Kawhi Leonard trade and Crowder would certainly help to resolve that. It just remains to be seen whether they will be pushing to make a run at a playoff spot in the 2020-21 NBA season or not.

After being traded by the Memphis Grizzlies to the Miami Heat, Crowder managed to hit his stride. He appeared in 20 regular season games after the trade and averaged 11.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists while shooting 44.5% from beyond the arc.
