The Golden State Warriors hold the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft but the biggest story regarding their team involves Klay Thompson.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Thompson suffered an apparent lower leg injury and the severity has yet to be determined. More information will be available after the results of the tests return.
Thompson was coming off a long rehabilitation process for a torn ACL injury that he sustained during the 2019 NBA Finals. He has yet to appear in a game for the Warriors since then due to the NBA’s suspension of the season in March.
If it ends up being that Thompson will be sidelined for an extended period of time, the Golden State Warriors will need to evaluate alternative options. Kelly Oubre Jr. is a potential trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder looking to move him. A Glenn Robinson III on the MLE is another.

The Warriors do at least have Andrew Wiggins on the wing but he his name has circulated in trade rumors. Could the Warriors shift course and keep him for the upcoming season if it turns out that Thompson will miss time?
The injury to Klay Thompson is a highly unfortunate development for the Golden State Warriors— after much optimism about their chances for title contention during the upcoming NBA season. Stephen Curry and Draymond Green will at least be healthy to lead the team.
Check back on this post for more details. It will be updated as more information is made available about Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson’s injury.
