The Oklahoma City Thunder clearly are in a rebuild after trading Chris Paul to the Phoenix Suns and Dennis Schroder to the Los Angeles Lakers. Who could be next? The signs point to Steven Adams and it could occur during the 2020 NBA Draft.
According to Hoops Legion Ross, Adams is a ‘name to watch’ during the 2020 NBA Draft as GM Sam Presti seeks to add more draft picks. The Thunder already has added a substantial trove of future selections and it has reached historic levels.
Many teams around the NBA appear focused on trading up for James Wiseman during the draft. Other centers like Steven Adams and Myles Turner could catch the attention of teams as potential trade targets for those that come up empty in acquiring Wiseman.
The whole NBA has been put on notice that veteran players are available for trade on the Thunder’s roster. If a team is seeking a strong presence down low that can stifle the strongest post-up threats and dominate the boards, Adams is a great option to pursue.

A significant benefit for the Thunder that comes with trading away Adams is that it would create a substantial trade exception. Other teams needing a boost at the center position could be enticed to acquire him given that he is on an expiring $27.53 million salary.
Last season, Steven Adams provided the Oklahoma City Thunder with solid contributions— featuring averages of 10.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.1 blocks. His presence inside the paint on both ends provided to be essential in the team’s surprise run.
