New York Knicks eyeing trade up from No. 8 in 2020 NBA Draft

The New York Knicks made a trade with the Utah Jazz to acquire the No. 23 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. Now, they appear set to use that new selection along with the No. 8 pick to move up.

According to Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman, there is some buzz around the NBA about the Knicks attempting to trade up to the No. 5 or No. 6 spot in the draft order using the No. 8 and No. 23 picks.

The Atlanta Hawks have received plenty of trade interest for the No. 6 pick but appear to be satisfied sticking where they’re at in the order— based on more of Wasserman’s reporting. Teams seem to have a significant interest in Patrick Williams but he could be off the board before that pick.

It remains to be seen which particular NBA Draft prospect the Knicks want after trading up— some names could include Obi Toppin or Onyeka Okongwu. New York is looking to add a standout to its core and moving up could be the best way to get it done.

The New York Knicks have previously been linked to Russell Westbrook as a potential trade suitor but that has dwindled. However, holding onto this pick and adding an intriguing prospect and then making a move for Westbrook could be an intriguing possibility.
