The Golden State Warriors will have a tough decision to make with the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. The potentially serious injury to Klay Thompson certainly does not simplify the process. A trade with the New York Knicks could be a potential option.
According to Hoops Legion Ross, the Warriors discussed a trade with the Knicks for a potential trade down from No. 2 overall in the 2020 NBA Draft to acquire a trade package focused on the No. 8 pick.
With the details surrounding Thompson’s potentially serious leg injury unknown, it may be in the Warriors’ best interest to keep the No. 2 pick. Using it on either LaMelo Ball or Anthony Edwards could provide needed impact on the wing for the 2019-20 NBA season. This could make it more difficult for the Knicks to execute a deal.
A trade down with the New York Knicks wouldn’t be a bad option for the Warriors either. They could still land one of the wing players that provide a ‘3-and-D’ impact and have a complete perimeter with Andrew Wiggins. Golden State still has the MLE and could use is it on a return for Glenn Robinson III.

The Knicks could have their eyes on LaMelo Ball to bring in more of a dynamic playmaking impact to a roster dry of that attribute. Many consider Ball as being capable of elite passing ability at the NBA level.
It will be fascinating to see how the Golden State Warriors adjust to their latest update. Additionally, the New York Knicks clearly made their acquisition of a late 1st round pick in the 2020 NBA Draft to move up from No. 8 but will they get it done?
