Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors discussed trade for No. 2 pick in NBA Draft

There is expected to be a lot of trade talk centered around selections atop the 2020 NBA Draft. Two teams within the top-five of the order have discussed a potential trade— the Chicago Bulls and Golden State Warriors.

According to The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor, the trade the Bulls and Warriors discussed would feature Chicago packaging Wendell Carter Jr. and the No. 4 pick in order to move up to No. 2.

League sources say the Warriors are weighing whether to accept a trade offered by the Bulls that would send Chicago their no. 2 overall pick for Wendell Carter Jr. and the fourth pick.

After many NBA Draft analysts had high hopes for Carter Jr., he hasn’t managed to put it together with the Bulls. However, having NBA experience goes a long way in helping a team with championship aspirations like the Warriors—- making it a logical risk for Golden State to take.

The primary objective for the Bulls was once considered to trade up for LaMelo Ball, at one point. Per O’Connor, they actually are targetting James Wiseman in a potential deal to get into the top-two.

If the Bulls trade up, sources believe they’ll select Wiseman.

If the Bulls believe that Wiseman has more dynamic potential than Carter Jr., it’s more than justifiable to execute such a move. Moving on from a non-star center to make an upgrade at the position isn’t a hefty price to pay to complete such a deal.
