76ers want to give Embiid-Simmons ‘every last chance’ before trade

The Philadelphia 76ers have seen a ton of high-profile trade rumors and speculation surrounding their organization. With both Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons on the roster, many thought the team could split the duo up. That does not appear to be the case.

According to a report from Marc Stein of the New York Times, the 76ers are looking to give Simmons and Embiid “every last chance” before deciding to make a trade.

Over the last couple of years, the Embiid and Simmons duo has been lethal in the regular season. However, they have been unable to take the 76ers to the heights they would like to be at in the playoffs. The franchise is hoping that changes.

During the 2019-20 NBA season, the 76ers ended the year with a 43-30 record and finished with the No. 6 seed in the playoff picture. Four games later, they had been swept by the Boston Celtics. That definitely did not sit well with the franchise.

Despite the disappointing finish to the season, Elton Brand does not appear ready to break up the star duo. He would rather build around them and see if the two can click better together moving forward.

Simmons finished the season averaging 16.4 points, 8.0 assists, and 7.8 rebounds per game for the 76ers. Embiid, on the other hand, scored 23 points per game to go along with 11.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.3 blocks.

Some believed that the 76ers would throw Simmons at the Houston Rockets in an attempt to trade for James Harden. That does not appear to be an option either.

Expect to hear a ton of rumors surrounding the Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid duo in Philadelphia. No matter what the rumors say, it appears that the 76ers do not want to trade them right now. That may change, but this is where we stand at this point in time.
