The Mavericks took the next step this season and made the playoffs as the seven-seed. They are in a position to make another big move for a playmaker in hopes of moving up the standings in the conference.

Luka Doncic is on his way to becoming one of the best players in the league. Dallas made a blockbuster deal with the New York Knicks that landed them Kristaps Porzingis. This is their core and adding a veteran ball handler would go a long way in solidifying the team.

The Mavericks have a lot of competition in the West. Kyle Lowry knows how to lead a team and would compliment both Doncic and Porzingis nicely.

Mark Cuban is not afraid to make the big move. If the Mavericks are serious about contending next season, then this is a move to improve their roster.
