Thunder planning to trade Danny Green after acquiring from Lakers

The Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers came to an agreement on a trade that will send Dennis Schroder to L.A. for Danny Green and the No. 28 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. After making the move, the Thunder are reportedly planning to move Green in a separate deal.

According to a report from Ross of Legion Hoops, the Thunder are currently planning to flip Green once their trade with the Lakers goes through.

Green had a rough end to the 2019-20 NBA season with the Lakers. He struggled with his shot and it was clear that Los Angeles could move him. While he was thrown into the Schroder trade, it is clear that Sam Presti and the Thunder don’t view him as a fit moving forward.

During the 2019-20 season with the Lakers, Green ended up averaging 8.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game. He shot 36.7 percent from the three-point line, which was a disappointing number.

What can the Thunder expect in return for Green? Probably not a lot, but even a second-round pick can be a valuable asset with Presti’s ability to nail draft pick after draft pick.

At 33 years old, Green could be a very solid addition for any contender looking to bring in a depth piece. If the Thunder do flip him, there are a few teams to keep an eye on. Among those teams could be the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers, and even the Toronto Raptors.

It will be interesting to see what ends up happening with this situation. The Thunder are looking to wheel and deal this offseason and Danny Green could very well be on the move again soon.

Expect to hear a lot more rumors surrounding both the Thunder and Lakers.
