The Sacramento Kings will have a tough decision to make this offseason. After moving Buddy Hield to the bench this season, it appears the young shooting guard would like to be traded. If he is moved, it appears that Hield would like to be traded to the Dallas Mavericks.
According to a report from NBA reporter Landon Buford, Hield definitely wants the Kings to trade him and the Mavericks are his top preferred destination.
Hield spends a lot of time during the offseason working out in the area, which would make a trade to Dallas make sense. He would also be a solid fit for the way the Mavericks play. However, a starting job may not be a guarantee.
Last season with the Kings, Hield ended up averaging 19.2 points per game to go along with 4.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists. He shot 42.9 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 39.4 percent of his three-point attempts.
At 27 years of age, Hield is a very intriguing trade candidate. He is in his prime and is becoming one of the top three-point threats in the league. Hield to the Mavericks would give Dallas even more offensive firepower.
Other potential trade destinations that have been mentioned for Hield have been the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, Indiana Pacers, and even the New York Knicks. Even though the Mavericks haven’t been hyped up as a landing spot, it would make sense.
If he were to be traded to the Mavericks, Hield would have his work cut out for him to earn a starting job. He would have to compete with Tim Hardaway Jr. for the role.
Expect to hear plenty of rumors continue coming out about Buddy Hield this offseason. The Kings are likely to trade him, it just remains to be seen where.
