The Los Angeles Clippers will need to reconfigure its roster before the upcoming NBA season. One area that could use an upgrade is the center position and Brooklyn Nets’ Jarrett Allen appears to be an option.
According to Legion Hoops Ross, the Clippers have interest in acquiring for Allen— though it was not stated whether via trade or next offseason when the 22-year-old is a restricted free agent.
The Clippers will likely be unable to retain Montrezl Harrell after he reaches free agency. He is going to command a substantial contract from a team around the NBA. His run-ins with Paul George certainly do not bode well for the situation either.
It would be a real benefit to the Clippers to add the highly efficient interior play finishing that Allen has provided the Nets. Allen would be a real upgrade over Ivica Zubac in some key areas.

There is plenty of value in Allen’s defensive impact, too. You can’t teach height or length and he has both— standing at 6-foot-11 with a 7-foot-6 wingspan. While Harrell has an incredible 7-foot-4 wingspan for his height, he still stands at just 6-foot-8.
The Nets face an interest situation when considering Jarrett Allen will seek a contract similar to what Clint Capela received from the Houston Rockets. For reference, Capela is signed to a five-year, $90 million contract.
With DeAndre Jordan being in the second year of a four-year, $39.6 million contract, would the Brooklyn Nets want to dedicate that much of their salary cap spending on the center position? If not, capitalizing on Jarrett Allen’s trade value could be a legitimate option.
