REPORT: Cavaliers are ‘eager’ to trade Kevin Love

The Cleveland Cavaliers are going to be a team to keep a close eye on this offseason. After a couple of years of being bottom-feeders following the departure of LeBron James to the Los Angeles Lakers, they want to move forward. Kevin Love does not appear to be a part of the future plans.

According to a report from Sean Deveny of Heavy, the Cavaliers are “eager” to dump Love this offseason in a potential trade. The report does not state the level of interest from around the league in Love.

Love is without question an intriguing trade target for contenders this offseason. With free agency not having any big splash kind of players, Love could garner some interest on the trade market.

Teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, and even the Golden State Warriors have been mentioned as possible fits. Love can stretch the floor, rebound, and post up. His game can fit into almost any system he is thrown into.

During the 2019-20 NBA season with the Cavaliers, Love ended up averaging 17.6 points per game to go along with 9.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists. He shot 45 percent from the floor and knocked down 37.4 percent of his three-point attempts.

At 32 years old, Love is not wanting to stick around for the full rebuild with the Cavaliers. He has meant a lot to the franchise and has had a lot of success in Cleveland, but the time has come for the two sides to part ways.

It will be interesting to see which teams come forward with interest in acquiring Love. He is still a capable star and could be the missing piece for multiple different contenders.

Expect to hear plenty of rumors surrounding the Cavaliers and Kevin Love this offseason. They are ready to move him and that should lead to some move. Only time will tell where he will end up.
