2. Detroit Pistons
When the Detroit Pistons moved Andre Drummond at the end line prior to the shutdown, it was made clear that they are heading towards a rebuild. With Blake Griffin under contract, it would be smart to get a point guard in there to team up with him.
Detroit needs a leader in the backcourt. This is where VanVleet would immediately fit in. He is a player who can score the ball and create his own shot. VanVleet can get to the rim or create in the mid-range. He is also a floor general who can make the younger talent better, such as Christian Wood and Luke Kennard.
The point guard position is the most important position on the floor and the Pistons need a big upgrade. It only helps that he already has a connection with head coach Dwane Casey from their mutual time with the Toronto Raptors.
VanVleet makes sense for the Pistons because he would fill a huge need and make an immediate impact. They have the cap space that might make VanVleet think twice about re-signing with the Raptors.
