Lakers still interested in trading for Thunder’s Dennis Schroder

Dennis Schroder may not be a huge name, but he absolutely could be a name to keep an eye on this season. After a big-time season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, his trade value has skyrocketed. One team with interest in trading for him could be the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to a report from the Silver Screen & Roll, the Lakers are still interested in acquiring Schroder from the Thunder.

During the 2019-20 NBA season with the Thunder, Schroder ended up averaging 18.9 points per game to go along with 4.0 assists and 3.6 rebounds. He shot 46.9 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 38.5 percent of his three-point attempts.

Those numbers show why a serious contender like the Lakers would have interest in acquiring Schroder. He could come off of the bench and provide a top-notch scoring punch. Or, he could even step into the starting lineup and be a threat alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

With Rajon Rondo expected to leave town in free agency, Schroder could very easily become the new starting point guard for the Lakers.

At 27 years old, Schroder is in his prime and would be a valuable asset for whoever acquires him. He only has one year left on his deal, which makes it an even more attractive move for a contender. Schroder will not tie up anyone’s cap space long-term.

Only time will tell if the Lakers get serious in trade talks with the Thunder. Schroder has been a name mentioned as a potential target for the Lakers for a couple of weeks now.

Expect to hear plenty of rumors surrounding the Lakers and Thunder this offseason. Coming together on a Dennis Schroder trade is obviously something to keep an eye on. It certainly could make sense for both parties involved.
