New York Knicks Receive: John Wall, 2020 1st Round Pick (No. 9)

Washington Wizards Receive: Elfrid Payton, Julius Randle, Bobby Portis

It’s not easy coming up with trade scenarios involving John Wall given how robust of a contract he received from the Washington Wizards. An athleticism reliant point guard who turned 30-years-old coming off an Achilles tear may be the definition of ‘buy low.’

The Wizards would be best served to undergo a complete tear-down of their roster— including a Bradley Beal trade. A successful rebuild likely wouldn’t be possible with Wall under contract through the 2022-23 season.

The Knicks could add a top-10 selection in the 2020 NBA Draft to take on Wall’s contract. It would give New York a chance to see if the All-Star guard can recover some of his previous form. Basically, a team desperate for a star that keeps striking out may need to take a chance.
