The Dallas Mavericks took the first step to relevance — they made the playoffs. Next, they will have to improve in the offseason to put themselves in a position to win a series or two. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers could benefit from moving a big contract like Tobias Harris.
It began when the Mavericks made a trade with the Atlanta Hawks on draft night in 2018. Dallas ended up with Luka Doncic and the Hawks settle for Trae Young. This has paid off in a major way for the Mavs as Doncic has already earned an All-NBA First-Team nomination.
The Mavericks continued their impressive rebuild when they pulled off a surprise trade for Kristaps Porzingis from the New York Knicks. This is a move that has led to major results already. In fact, Dallas already has posted the best single-season offensive rating in NBA history.
This offseason, the Mavericks are in a position to add another star player. There are plenty of options on the trade block this year with the crazy year we have had. There is a certain player with the 76ers who is on a terrible contract that Philadelphia would benefit from moving— Tobias Harris.
If the Dallas Mavericks are interested in trading for Tobias Harris to serve as a third option (as they reportedly are) they could look for a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. This is one that has peaked interest and gained traction since the season has ended.
