Charlotte Hornets Receive: Rudy Gobert, Royce O’Neale

Utah Jazz Receive: No. 3 Pick, Nicolas Batum, Malik Monk

The Utah Jazz will soon have to face a situation where they will have to give Rudy Gobert a substantial contract extension next offseason. If that’s not something they want to do, finding a potential trade suitor soon would be the best course of action.

There would be a variety of intriguing NBA Draft prospects available for the Jazz with the No. 3 pick. Landing one of those talents to play on a rookie contract for the next four years would go a long way for Utah’s roster construction capabilities.

The Charlotte Hornets are a team that needs to establish some sort of identity and strengths. Trading for an elite rim protector that thrives at finishing plays in the paint in Gobert would help elevate their defense substantially and bolster their pick-and-roll offense.

There are no shortage of individual defenders on the Hornets that would benefit substantially by having Gobert to cover up mistakes. It would be worth the massive contract extension to turn things around.
