Rationale For New Orleans Pelicans
The timeline for the New Orleans Pelicans revolves around both Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram, at this stage of their franchise. At 24-years-old, Myles Turner would provide precisely that.
There is a real need for the Pelicans to find a stretch-five option to space floor alongside Williamson so he can feast inside the lane. His incredible level of efficiency would be maximized by having a player with Turner’s skill-set to pull the center out of the paint.
The Pelicans thrive with Ingram getting downhill after penetrating the lane from the perimeter. Having a pick-and-pop threat that can knock down jumpers and put the ball on the floor would be an intriguing combination for New Orleans.
There is a lot that Williamson still has to figure out defensively and Turner’s rim protection would go a long way for the Pelicans’ unit. It would enable him to use his explosiveness to take gambles.
It certainly wouldn’t hurt the Pelicans to add a sharpshooter like Doug McDermott in this scenario either. New Orleans can use all of the perimeter shooting they can get around their stars.
