This 76ers-Heat trade reunites Jimmy Butler, Joel Embiid

Jimmy Butler and Joel Embiid starred together on the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2018-19 season, before Butler became eligible for free agency and departed to the Heat.

Embiid and Butler are an extremely formidable duo, and they could reunite down in South Beach if the 76ers opt for a major shakeup of their roster.

Embiid is under contract through 2023, so the Heat would have to acquire him via trade if this were to work.

Back in February, before the season was suspended, Embiid posted a caption on Instagram where he wrote, “You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain,” in reference to the 76ers’ issues at the time.

Butler, ever the opportunist, commented on the post, “I know a place where villains are welcome.” Fans interpreted this as Jimmy Butler recruiting Embiid to Miami.

Let’s take a look at a trade that could send Joel Embiid to South Beach, and analyze it from the perspective of both the Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers.
