This Cavs-Clippers trade would pair Andre Drummond with Kawhi Leonard, Paul George

Why the Cavaliers Should Do It

The Cavaliers aren’t going to be in contention next season. And for a team that is likely multiple years away from contention, a $28 million salary for Drummond is less than ideal.

This deal would see Cleveland acquire a replacement for Drummond in Ivica Zubac, as well as veteran guard Patrick Beverly and Rodney McGruder.

Beverly in particular would bring valuable experience to a backcourt with plenty of young guards. The Cavs have a glut of young depth in their backcourt, featuring Darius Garland, Collin Sexton, Kevin Porter Jr. and Dylan Windler.

Cleveland needs more veteran experience on a relatively young team, and it would accomplish that in this trade.
