This Pacers-Thunder trade would send Domantas Sabonis back to OKC

Rationale for Indiana Pacers

It wouldn’t be an easy decision for the Pacers to move on from Domantas Sabonis when considering how entrenched he has become in their half-court offense. However, being able to add Danilo Gallinari along with draft compensation is an intriguing possibility.

The Pacers would be able to pair up Gallinari with Myles Turner in the frontcourt— providing a real balance between offensive firepower and defensive impact. The impact Gallinari had on the Thunder’s offense would be a welcomed addition for Indiana.

The Pacers would be able to keep T.J. Warren at small forward and have five-out offensive capabilities in their offense. Indiana would also have the option of staggering the minutes of Warren and Gallinari to always have a scoring option at the four spot on the court.

The real draw for the Pacers would be the 2022 first-round selection from the Clippers with the hope of it resulting in a dynamic prospect. It’s not a guarantee Los Angeles falls apart by then, so there’s still that risk.
